BARANGAY Ginebra and Talk 'N Text got a timely reprieve when their sudden-death match for the eighth and last spot in the PBA Governors Cup quarterfinals was postponed for a day due to the heavy rains that have caused flooding in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
Commissioner Chito Salud made the announcement on Monday morning, saying the playoff match will now be held a day later on Tuesday beginning at 7:15 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The postponement meant an extra day of rest for both Ginebra and Talk 'N Text, which just last Sunday night had faced each other at the end of the eliminations in a game which the Texters won, 113-99, to force the do-or-die match for the last quarterfinal ticket.
The postponement will set back the rest of the quarterfinal schedule, the Commissioner's Office added.
The start of the quarterfinals originally slated on Tuesday will now be held on Wednesday with Meralco and Barako Bull meeting in the 5:15 p.m. game and San Mig Coffee facing Alaska at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Dome.
On Thursday, Rain or Shine battles Globalport and top seed Petron face the winner of the Ginebra-Talk 'N Text playoff at the Mall of Asia Arena.
